Through a series of letters to an anonymous friend, introverted freshman Charlie navigates the complexities of high school — first love, loss, friendship, and the struggle to participate in life rather than just observe it. A coming-of-age story that captures the intensity of adolescence.

Jim's Review

🐛
Jim is basically the ultimate wallflower — he literally lives in a wall (of soil). Chbosky nails the feeling of being on the outside looking in, and Charlie's letters are so raw and honest they made Jim feel infinite. The friendships, the mixtapes, the quiet devastation — it all rings true. A book that understands lonely kids like no other. Four deeply felt worms.
