Jim's Review

"Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again." One of the greatest opening lines ever, and it only gets better. Du Maurier builds dread the way other authors build sandcastles — with patience and devastating results. Mrs. Danvers is peak literary villainy, and the atmosphere is so thick Jim needed a machete to get through it. Five worms — gothic perfection that has aged like fine wine.
